which sites can use the small site metric ?
SSM can only be used for the following sites
1. Residential development where number of dwellings is between 1 - 9
2. A commercial development with less than 1,000 sq. m floor space
2. A site area < 1 hectare or, number of dwellings unknown or, the site area is less than 0.5 hectares
3. A development not used for mineral working extraction or deposit.
SSM cannot be used if the following apply
Any specific designated site habitats that are not listed on the SSM criteria.
Any known priority habitats
Any statutory protected sites or habitats
Any European protected species
